Some documents, messages, scribbles and profiles aren't appropriate for our service. If you run across hate speech, pornographic material, or spam on Scribd, or if someone is harassing you, we urge you to let us know. You can report documents, comments, eventsprivate messages, and entire profiles.

On every document's page on Scribd you'll find a command to flag it as inappropriate. Look for the "flag" button in the right column or, if you're viewing a document in Flash mode, look for the "flag this document" command below the document's contents.

Click the flag whenever you come across content that you feel is offensive, pornographic, or spam. Then check the appropriate box or boxes and click Report. We regularly review flagged documents and remove any that we agree violate Scribd's Terms of Use.

Instances of copyright infringement should not be reported via the flag system. Click here for instructions if you are the owner of a document that was uploaded to Scribd without your authorization.

Egregious violations of the law (such as child pornography) should be immediately reported to support@scribd.com.

If someone scribbles a comment on one of your own documents, you can delete it completely. To do so, place your mouse cursor over the comment without clicking any mouse buttons. You'll see a Delete link appear to the right of the scribble. Click the link to delete the comment.

If an inappropriate comment or other event appears in the activity feed on your homepage, you can dismiss it so it will no longer appear. To do so, place your mouse cursor over the event without clicking any mouse buttons. You'll see an X icon appear to the right of the scribble. Click the X to delete the scribble.

Inappropriate Private Messages

If you receive an inappropriate message in your Scribd inbox, click the Spam link next to it to report it to the Scribd support staff and immediately delete it from your inbox. You can use the Spam link for harassing or other inappropriate messages as well, not just spam. However, please do not use the spam button to report automated messages from Scribd.

report-block.pngInappropriate Profiles

If someone on Scribd has an inappropriate profile, or if they've subscribed to you and you don't want them to be, open the member's profile page by clicking on their username or profile picture. Look for the Report this user and Block this user commands at the bottom of the left column of their profile page.

Reporting an Inappropriate Profile

If a member's entire Scribd profile is inappropriate—for example, if someone is doing nothing but spamming Scribd—you may report the member to us. To do so, click Report this user. You'll be prompted to confirm your decision

Blocking a Member

Sometimes you might not want to interact with a particular member, but feel that reporting them for violating our Terms of Use is overkill. If this is the case, you can block them instead. Blocking a user prevents them from subscribing to you and from replying to your scribbles. It's important to mention, though, that they will still be able to scribble comments on your documents and reply to other people who you may follow, so you might still see some notifications from them. To block a member, click Block this user. You'll be prompted to confirm your decision. You can unblock a blocked user by revisiting their profile page and clicking Unblock this user.
